Description

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) provides the foundation for a safe and positive learning environment, but what does that look like at different developmental stages, and how can SEL best support students in the secondary classroom? Join Matt Bergman for this hands-on, interactive workshop as he provides middle and high school educators with SEL strategies that can be incorporated into any curriculum and learning environment. Special emphasis will be placed on nurturing relationships, developing inclusive practices, and improving executive functioning and self-regulation skills. Participants will also walk away with a Google Doc filled with templates, links, and resources that they can immediately use in the classroom.

Dr. Matt Bergman is an award-winning educator, blogger, and consultant from Lititz, PA. Matt has a rich K-12 and higher education background, serving in various roles, such as teacher, digital learning coach, and professional development leader.

Objectives

Special Technology Instructions

Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.

Assessment

Participants will complete several interactive activities and informal assessments to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
