Do you want to learn how to seamlessly plan and execute lessons that span before, during, and after reading with decodable texts? Research indicates that effective reading instruction involves a cohesive plan that incorporates pre-reading preparation, interactive reading practices, and post-reading reinforcement to maximize student learning and retention. Join Rachel Scott for this hands-on, interactive workshop as we lean on Wiley Blevins’ book “Choosing and Using Decodable Texts” to select one target skill within a connected decodable text and model the entire planning process from start to finish. Each piece will contribute to the learner's ability to decode words with the target feature, quickly recognize high-frequency words, and read fluently. Get ready to maximize the effectiveness of your small group reading sessions with decodable texts! Rachel’s expertise as a literacy instructional specialist will equip you with the tools and strategies you need to plan an entire small group lesson using a decodable text efficiently and effectively.

This is workshop four of four for the series titled “Tools and Strategies for Small-group Instruction Using Decodable Texts.”
