NOTE: While we recommend that you attend all sessions of the workshop series to meet the learning objectives, each workshop can be attended as a standalone. Full members will also have access to view the recordings on-demand and earn up to six continuing education credits.
Workshop description: When educators come together to share information, resources, ideas, and expertise, learning becomes more accessible and effective for students. Join Dr. Samantha Fecich as she shares strategies to help beginning teachers establish a Personalized Learning Network (PLN) at their school as well tips and tricks for utilizing social media to connect with like-minded professionals from around the world. Participants will also have an opportunity to access done-for-you templates and resources to develop their own PLN and create a network of people and resources to support their ongoing learning.

Dr. Samantha Fecich teaches preservice teachers (future teachers) at Grove City College in Grove City, Pennsylvania. She has the honor and the pleasure of working with them in their courses related to educational technology and special education.
Objectives
- Explain how becoming a connected educator makes learning more accessible and effective for students.
- Discover a variety of strategies to help educators establish a Personalized Learning Network at school.
- Utilize social media to develop a PLN and create a network of people and resources from around the world that support ongoing learning.
Special Technology Instructions
Participants will need access to an internet device and a non-school, personal Google account. SimpleK12’s Google Classroom will be utilized for the interactive and hands-on components of this workshop.
Assessment
Participants will use the templates and resources provided to develop their own PLN for the upcoming school year to demonstrate their understanding of the workshop objectives and reflect on their learning.
