A Free Human Body Model for Your Classroom
Would you love to have your own human body model for your classroom?
With today's limited resources, it can be difficult to find top-quality resources to use with students. This is especially true when it comes to the sciences, as science resources can be particularly costly! In this 3-Minute Classroom Problem Solver, SimpleK12's Teacher Learning Community presenter Kim Munoz gives a tour of BioDigital Human, a free digital resource for you and your students to explore the human body.
Because this isn't your typical human body model, it has some unique features that make it ideal for classroom use. First, it's the first ever 3D digital body available for free online – this allows your students to become completely immersed in human anatomy. Explore all the different systems of the body with just a click of your mouse. From the digestive tract to the respiratory system, it's all available at your disposal. Really the next closest thing would be an actual cadaver!
One of my favorite features of BioDigital Human is the pronunciation guide. As your students explore the model, they have the option to hear the most common names sounded out aloud. This is an ideal feature for learning how to pronounce all of those obscure parts and pieces of human anatomy. I needed it a time or two myself when exploring the site, too. :)
So there you have it, your very own human body model for your classroom. What lesson plan are you going to use it in first? Tell me about it in a comment on this article.
